Transfer ownership of an account

TL;DR

Workspace ownership transfers from Settings → General → Transfer Ownership: current owner initiates, new owner (must be an Admin) accepts, billing contact updates optionally. Org-level ownership transfers via the org console.

Workspace transfer

Current owner → Settings → General → Transfer → pick an Admin → they receive an acceptance request. On accept, ownership flips; the previous owner remains an Admin unless changed.

What ownership means

The owner is the root authority: can't be removed by other admins, controls transfer, and is the default escalation for billing and legal notices. Everything else is ordinary Admin capability.

Billing contact

Ownership and billing contact are separate — transfer prompts whether to move billing too. Finance-owned billing with founder-owned workspace is a common, fine split.

Departing-owner scenario

If the owner has already left: another Admin contacts support with domain verification for a recovery transfer. Faster path: transfer before they leave — put it on the offboarding checklist.
