AI voice calls have stricter compliance than email. Disclosure (informing the recipient they're talking to AI) is required in most jurisdictions. Call recording requires consent. Some regions (TCPA in the US) impose additional requirements. Configure compliance defaults before any call goes out.
Disclosure — what to say
The opening line of every call must indicate the caller is AI. Default: "Hi, this is [name], an AI assistant calling on behalf of [your company]. Do you have a moment to chat?" Custom disclosure language can be adjusted in Settings → Compliance → AI Voice Disclosure, but the disclosure cannot be removed entirely.
Call recording — when to record
Recording requires consent in most jurisdictions. The default flow: ask consent in the opening ("This call may be recorded for quality purposes — is that okay?"). If the recipient declines, the call continues without recording — only recording is gated, the call still happens.
TCPA (US) — extra requirements
US calls to mobile numbers are subject to TCPA. Mandatory: explicit prior consent for the call, and respect for Do Not Call lists. turgo maintains DNC suppression automatically; an opt-out during a call adds the number to your suppression list permanently.
GDPR (EU/UK) — extra requirements
EU/UK calls require a lawful basis (typically consent or legitimate interest). Recording in many EU countries requires explicit opt-in. The agent applies stricter defaults for EU prospects automatically — configurable in Settings → Compliance → Geographies.
Per-region compliance defaults
Settings → Compliance → AI Voice has per-region defaults for disclosure language, recording behavior, call-time windows, and DNC handling. Pick the regions you operate in; defaults adjust automatically.
