A signal-triggered play is the sequence of agent actions that fire when a specific signal lands. Configure plays per signal type: which agent acts, which sequence runs, what's the time window.
Anatomy of a play
A play has four elements:
- Trigger — which signal fires it.
- Audience filter — which accounts qualify.
- Agent assignment — which agent or workflow runs.
- Sequence — what actions fire.
All four are configurable per play.
Common play patterns
- Funding-triggered: "Series B+ funding on an ICP-fit account → AI SDR runs a 5-touch sequence over 12 days starting tomorrow."
- Surge-triggered: "Bombora surge above threshold on an ICP-fit account → AI SDR runs same-day outreach."
- Job-change: "Job change to an ICP-fit account in a target persona role → wait 30 days, then a 3-touch sequence."
Configuring a play
Signals → Plays → New Play. Define the four elements, save, and activate. The play runs automatically every time the trigger fires for a qualifying account — you don't manually trigger plays, they're event-driven.
Latency targets
Most plays should fire within minutes of the signal. Surge plays especially: a Bombora surge is a buying window that closes fast. The agent acting within an hour outperforms acting the next day by ~2x reply rate.
Don't over-build plays
Two or three high-confidence plays beat ten weak ones. Each play needs maintenance: monitoring outcomes, tuning its sequence, refining its audience. Start with two plays based on your highest-confidence signals; add more only as you prove the pattern.
