Real personalization references something specific and current about the prospect — not just {{first_name}}. The agent researches each contact at send time and writes context-aware openings. Your job is defining which context matters.
The three levels
- Token personalization — name, company; table stakes.
- Segment personalization — persona- and industry-specific angles.
- Contextual personalization — this person, this week: their post, their company's funding, their new role. This level drives the reply-rate lift.
What the agent uses
Golden Record data, recent signals, public activity (posts, talks), company news, and technographic context. You control which sources are allowed per sequence in Personalization Settings.
Guiding the agent
In the sequence template, mark which context types the opener should draw on (e.g. "reference the funding round or the hiring surge, never their alma mater"). Specific guidance beats "personalize this."
Quality control
Sampling: review 10 random sends weekly even in auto-send mode. Watch for personalization that's technically accurate but socially off — the agent learns from your flags.
