When you find a wrong value in a Golden Record, you can correct it manually. The system logs the change with your user as the source, locks the field if requested, and prevents future source-driven updates from overriding your correction.
When to manually correct
When you've verified a value is wrong from a trusted source — a direct conversation with the prospect, an internal document, a regulatory filing. Don't manually correct based on guesses; the manual edit becomes the new source of truth and will override future data-provider updates if locked.
How to correct a field
Open the Golden Record → click the field → Edit → enter the correct value → optionally check Lock Value → Save. The change appears in the field's provenance trail immediately with your user, timestamp, and the new value.
Locking vs not locking
An unlocked manual edit becomes the current value but can be overridden if a higher-quality source pushes a different value later. A locked manual edit is immune to source-driven changes; only another manual edit can change it. Lock fields where you've confirmed the value and don't want providers to override; leave unlocked where you want the manual edit to be a starting point that providers can refine.
Bulk corrections
For dozens of corrections at once, use CSV upload (see Bulk update via spreadsheet upload). For thousands, use the API. The audit log captures every change regardless of method.
Reviewing past corrections
Data → Audit Log → filter by your user → date range. Shows every manual change you've made with the before and after values. Useful for compliance reviews and for catching your own mistakes.
