Data Append
What is Data Append?
Append is a directional operation: you start with a record that has some fields, you match it to an external source, and you copy across the fields you were missing. It's distinct from enrichment (which is broader and includes refresh of existing fields) and from data integration (which moves whole records). The simplest version is appending firmographics — company size, industry, country — to a contact record that only had name and email. More valuable versions append intent signals, technographics, or contact-level fields like direct dial. Quality append depends entirely on match quality: a 90% accurate append against the wrong record is just systematic noise.
Why it matters
- Lets you act on records that came in thin — a form submit with just name and email becomes a fully scored lead.
- Cheap compared to re-acquiring the data — append against an existing record is fast.
- Source-dependent — the append is only as good as the provider, so source selection matters more than tooling.
Use cases
- Form-fill enrichment. Every form submit appended with firmographics before scoring.
- Direct-dial append. Sales appends phone numbers to a contact list before a cold-call sprint.
- Technographic append. Adding the prospect's tech stack to the account record before outbound.
How turgo helps
