Predictive Marketing Automation
What is Predictive Marketing Automation?
Conventional marketing automation is deterministic. If a contact downloads a guide, wait two days, then send email two. Predictive marketing automation replaces those conditions with scored probabilities. The system estimates how likely a contact is to convert, which offer will resonate, which channel they respond to and when they are most likely to engage, then makes the send decision from those estimates. The same nurture programme therefore behaves differently for a high-intent director at a target account than for a student who downloaded the same guide. It requires three ingredients that many stacks lack: enough labelled outcome history to train on, clean and consistently identified contact data, and the ability to act on a score in real time rather than in a nightly batch. Where those exist, the gains come less from better copy than from better allocation, since the highest-probability contacts stop being treated identically to everyone else.
Why it matters
- Send decisions match individual probability, which lifts conversion without increasing volume.
- Contact fatigue drops, because low-intent contacts are touched less rather than at the same cadence as everyone.
- The programme improves on its own as outcomes feed back into the model.
Use cases
- Adaptive nurture. High-scoring contacts are fast-tracked to a sales conversation and low scorers stay in education.
- Send-time optimisation. Each contact is emailed at their own predicted best window rather than at nine in the morning.
- Churn prevention. Predicted-risk customers receive proactive outreach before the renewal date.
