Outbound Sequence
What is Outbound Sequence?
Outbound Sequence is the concrete artifact within an Outbound Cadence framework. Where cadence is the pattern, sequence is the instance: this specific set of emails, calls, and LinkedIn messages, executed in this order, against this list. Modern sequences include exit conditions (positive reply, opt-out, meeting booked all exit the sequence) and branching logic (different next-touch based on engagement). Sequences are versionable — A/B testing a new variant against the current best.
Why it matters
- Concrete execution layer of outbound strategy.
- Versionable — A/B testable, optimizable, sharable.
- Exit conditions prevent the most common bad outcome — continuing to email people who said no.
Use cases
- Standard outbound program. Primary sequence for cold ICP-fit prospects.
- Signal-triggered sequences. Specialized sequences fired by funding, hiring, or intent signals.
- Re-engagement sequences. Shorter sequences for stalled or closed-lost prospects.
